New Appointment to the Board’s DRC
Gov. Perry Appoints Gallardo and Carrozza to Texas Medical Board District Review Committees
AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Carlos L. Gallardo of Frisco and Paul Richard Carrozza of Austin to Texas Medical Board district review committees. Committee members evaluate medical practice and professional competency and make recommendations on investigations conducted by the board.
District Two Review Committee
Gallardo is an independent recruitment consultant, providing services to develop and implement college/university recruitment programs. He is a board member of the City of Frisco Urban Forestry Board and the YMCA of Frisco. Gallardo is also a member of the Knights of Columbus-Frisco and Rotary International. He is past president of the West Falls Village Home Owners Association and past member of the National, Southwest and Rocky Mountain Associations of Colleges and Employers.
He formerly served in the U.S. Air Force and Central Intelligence Agency. He received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and his term expires Jan. 15, 2008.
District Four Review Committee
Carrozza is the owner of RunTex Inc., which is comprised of RunTex Retail, RunTex University and RunTex Events. He is a member of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, co-chair of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Fitness, and chair of the Austin Mayor’s Fitness Council. Additionally, Carrozza is vice chair of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Division. He serves as chairman of the board of the Carrozza Foundation and Shoes for Austin. He is also a board member of the Travis County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board, Junior Achievement of Central Austin, and HeartGift.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Abilene Christian University. His term expires Jan. 15, 2012.
